Description
Provides basic and emergency dental care including dental exams, root canals, fixed prosthodontics, removable prosthodontics, restorations, extractions, biopsy, alveoloplasty.
Provides patient screening procedures, such as assessment of oral health conditions, review of the health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, and dental charting.
Provides patient education and home care instructions after dental procedures.
Counsel’s patients about good nutrition and its impact on oral health.
Assures quality dental services.
Assures appropriate referrals for patients.
Serves as a preceptor dentist for the OU College of Dentistry; supervising 4th year dental students to develop their practical dental skills.
Participates in communication with volunteer dentists in the NSO dental program.
Reports pertinent observations and patient reactions to dental director as appropriate
In absence of Dental Director, provide clinical direction to dental clinic staff and report any issues or concerns to the appropriate party in a timely manner.
Ensures that appropriate safety and regulatory measures are followed.
Participates in NSO staff meetings and clinic meetings.
Performs related work as required or directed.

Skills
Considerable knowledge of dental terminology and charting practices.
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of dental health promotion and prevention.
Knowledge of Federal and OSHA regulations for dental clinics.
Intermediate computer skills with knowledge of Eaglesoft software and digital x-rays preferred

Notes
Maintain a valid, current and unrestricted license to practice Dentistry in the State of Oklahoma.
Meets the requirements of OU College of Dentistry to serve as a preceptor dentist.
Five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Maintain a valid policy of insurance, professional liability coverage.
Clearance of background check and drug screen.
