Job DescriptionThe LCSW works in tandem with members of the medical and behavioral health team to manage psychosocial aspects of chronic and acute diseases, apply behavioral principles to address lifestyle and health risk issues and provide consultation in the treatment of mental disorders and psychosocial issues. S/he has a solid knowledge of evidence-based behavioral assessments and interventions relevant to medical conditions, e.g., disease management, treatment adherence, and lifestyle changes. S/he is skilled in targeted, brief individual and group psychotherapy sessions and has the ability to make quick and accurate clinical assessments. The LCSW is responsible for growing the mental health department through coordinated development opportunities.
Responsibilities and Duties
Promote and integrate behavioral health services within and outside of Kheir.
Maintain protocols and procedures for integrated behavioral health activities across the Kheir network.
Assist the primary care provider in recognizing, treating and managing mental health & psychosocial issues.
Conduct client intakes, focusing on diagnostic and functional evaluations.
Deliver focused intervention for clients who are in need of mental health services.
Provide consultation to clinic management and other team members about behavioral health services, suggested areas of outcome, and program evaluation.
Assist in project- related communication with the governmental agencies, i.e. Department of Mental Health.
Develop and maintain knowledge and bank of local resources for outside referrals.
Support Quality Assurance activities related to behavioral health care.
Track, prepare and present program/project data and reports.
Monitor and coordinate the department’s delivery of health services for clients as related to behavioral health care, including linking with other treatment providers both within the primary care setting & outside
Coordinate external and internal training for all BH Department staff, including ASW supervision trainings.
Effectively document services to monitor and evaluate quality- improvement benchmarks for department
Conduct weekly “chart” reviews & train ASWs, if necessary.
Ensure compliance in mandated utilization of e-referral, electronic health records & electronic billing systems.
Department Leadership
Identify opportunities to increase behavioral health services patient base and visits.
Spearhead, develop, and implement marketing strategies and tactics to grow the BH Department.
Lead project-related communication with the governmental agencies, i.e. Department of Mental Health.
Qualifications and Skills
Valid licensure in California as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
Minimum 3 years of clinical experience as a licensed clinician, working with diverse multi-ethnic communities.
Demonstrated ability and experience to supervise & mentor ASWs
Project & personnel management experience
Valid California driver’s license and proof of Auto Insurance with daily access to a reliable vehicle
Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Solid written, oral, and public communication skills
Ability to be flexible with schedule on as needed basis
